First H1N1 shots Thursday at Hopewell church
The first county clinic to give out the H1N1 flu vaccine has been announced for Thursday, Nov. 12, from 4 to 7 p.m., at West Park Methodist Church, on Shiloh PIke, in Hopewell Township.
According to officials from the Cumberland County Health Department, only those in the "priority 1 target population" will be eligible to receive the vaccine.
They include:
* All those aged 6 months to 24 years old.
* People aged 25 to 64 years with chronic health conditions - these people should be prepared to answer questions about their health condition.
* Pregnant women.
* Household contacts and caregivers for children younger than 6 months old.
* Licensed or certified health care and emergency medical services personnel - should be prepared to show proper identification.
"The clinics being scheduled are for specific priority groups," said county Public Health Coordinator Herb Roeschke in a released statement. "The health department is asking the general population to be patient while we focus on vaccinating theses priority populations."
According to county health officials, additional vaccine shipments are expected to arrive on a weekly basis.
