De Leo wins; Hudson passes public question

Hudson County Surrogate Donald W. De Leo cruised to victory over his Republican rival Agha Khan yesterday, 77.17 to 22.78 percent with 98.21 percent of the vote counted.
Guttenberg and East Newark had uncontested races.
In Guttenberg, Mayor Gerald R. Drasheff was re-elected along with council members John Harbermann, Efrain Velez and Alfonso Caso. A newcomer, Monica Fundora, won an at-large seat.
In East Newark, Yamara Salas and Edward V. Serafin won at-large council seats.
The public question to give the state permission to buy and preserve land as open space overwhelming passed in Hudson County, 62.49 percent to 37.51 percent with 98.21 percent of the vote counted.
