Boy, 2, crashes car into tree

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. -- A 2-year-old child took the wheel of his mother's car and drove into a tree after being left alone in the parked vehicle Monday afternoon, police said.

Jamie Siegman, 19, of Levittown arrived at a medical building on Middletown Boulevard just after 1 p.m. and left her son in the running vehicle, police said.

Siegman's son promptly climbed into the driver's seat, put the car in gear, and crashed into the tree. Police said witnesses who observed the accident went over the stopped car and found the child alone inside.

Police arrived, and Siegman was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, recklessly endangering another person, leaving an unattended child in a motor vehicle, and unattended motor vehicle.
