3 vie for two seats in Lower Alloways Creek
LOWER ALLOWAYS CREEK TWP. - Three residents are running for the two open seats on the township committee this year.
Democrat newcomer Dorothy Stetser is running along with Democrat incumbent Sherman Wood Jr. against Republic incumbent Ellen Pompper for a spot on the five-member committee.
The committee is currently comprised of three Republicans and two Democrats.
Here is a look at the candidates:
Pompper, 52, currently serves as mayor. She credits finishing what she started as the driving force behind he decision to run for re-election.
"The township is running smoothly and there are some projects that I want to see completed," said Pompper.
Some of those projects include Sustainable New Jersey, a program that will help LAC go green, and the construction of a cell tower.
"We desperately need one. We need to a way to communicate with our emergency management team," she said.
When it comes to experience, Pompper has served on the township committee for 12 years.
"I have chaired every committee in the township," she said. "I am aware of all aspects of this township and I know how this government works."
