UPPER PITTSGROVE TWP.-ÊFour residents are running for the two open seats on the township committee here this year.

The candidates are Democrats Robert Ferber and incumbent Michael Seery Sr. and Republicans Bruce Bishop and incumbent Jack Cimprich.

    The committee has five members.

Here is a look at the candidates:

Bishop, 50, is a local farmer. His dedication to the farm community was the driving force behind his decision to run for township committee.

"I want to do my part to maintain the farm community in Upper Pittsgrove," said Bishop.

Although he does not have much political experience, Bishop brings his keen sense of business to the table. He is co-owner of Bishop Farms, Inc.

Bishop notes maintaining the farm community as the main issue facing the township.

"We have got to keep development down, and keep preservation our top priority," he said.

Bishop has been married to his wife, Lisa, for 27 years. They have three children.
