SH&WF awards $30G to Salem County Red Cross chapter
The Salem Health and Wellness Foundation (SH&WF) has awarded a grant in the amount of $30,000 to the Salem County Chapter of the American Red Cross. The grant will help fund the Human Needs Program.

LOWER ALLOWAYS CREEK TWP. - Mayor Ellen Pompper on Friday was elected by New Jersey mayors to serve on the Executive Board of the New Jersey State League of Municipalities.

Pennsville police arrest Del. man on DWI charge
PENNSVILLE TWP. - Eric D. Cerezo, 27, of Newport, Del., was arrested Nov. 14 for driving while intoxicated after his vehicle struck a parked car in the area of Route 49 and Main Street, police said. He was also charged with reckless driving, failure to maintain lane and driving with a suspended license. His vehicle was impounded and he was eventually released to a friend pending court. No injuries from the crash were reported.

Salem County health officials offering a free swine flu clinic
The Salem County Health Department will be offering an H1N1 thimerosal free vaccine clinic for pregnant women and children ages 6 months to 35 months (under 3).

DEP awards recycling grants to Salem County towns
WEST DEPTFORD TWP. - Sen. Stephen M. Sweeney, Assemblyman John J. Burzichelli and Assemblywoman Celeste M. Riley have announced that several municipalities in the Third Legislative District have been awarded grants from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection in order to continue local recycling efforts.

Carneys Point man arrested on civil comtempt warrant
CARNEYS POINT TWP. - Brian D. Johnston, 34, of Bay Street, was arrested Nov. 12 at 2:12 p.m. on a civil contempt warrant out of Gloucester County Superior Court, police said.

ALLOWAY TWP. - The occupants of a home on Pleasant Hill Road here escaped injury Monday afternoon when a fire tore through the living room of their ranch-style home.

PITTSGROVE TWP. - Hanna Bridge, on Olivet Road over Indian Run here, has been reopened to traffic, county officials said Monday.

CARNEYS POINT TWP. - The Historical Society of Penns Grove, Carneys Point and Oldmans will be holding a 10th anniversary celebration party at its quarterly meeting on Thursday, Nov. 19 at the Union Presbyterian Church on Shell Road starting at 7 p.m.

Man faces drug charges
PENNS GROVE - Carlucci Upshur, 20, of Westminister Avenue, was arrested Sunday at 2:36 p.m. and charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, and failure to surrender CDS to a law enforcement officer, police said. Upshur was committed to the Salem County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 bail.

State police respond to Nov. calls
New Jersey State Police troopers from the Woodstown barracks responded to 14 residential alarms during the period of Nov. 9 through Nov. 15. Troopers conducted 34 property checks of area businesses, public facilities and private residences.

Units respond to accident
UPPER PITTSGROVE TWP. - A two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Buck Road and U.S. Route 40 here Thursday afternoon sent at least one person to the hospital with minor injuries and brought traffic to a halt for a portion of the afternoon, state police said.
